In Lisbon, at least 15 of these new hotels are projected to begin operations this year. The Observatório da Associação de Turismo de Lisboa indicates that by the end of this expansion, the capital will have a 16% increase in its hotel capacity, bringing the total to 334 hotels and approximately 5,000 new rooms.
On the other hand, Porto, which currently boasts 190 hotels capable of hosting 22,676 visitors, will expand to 312 establishments, providing a total of 34,509 beds. Once these new hotels are operational, Porto will reach a density of 7.61 hotels per square kilometer.
