Arrest of a Young Suspect
The Public Security Police (PSP), through the Sintra Police Division, arrested a 19-year-old on November 12. He is suspected of committing aggravated robbery and has previously been associated with the riots that recently occurred in the Zambujal neighborhood of Amadora.
Details of the Crime
According to a statement from the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon, the crime leading to this arrest took place on September 29. The investigation stemmed from a robbery that involved physical coercion and assault by two suspects who used a chokehold to immobilize the victim and stole two mobile phones.
The suspects contacted the victim, who had advertised the phones for sale, and persuaded her to enter a building under the pretext of retrieving the necessary money for the transaction. Once inside, they incapacitated her and fled with the phones.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Following investigative efforts to identify and locate the suspects, evidence was gathered that led to the identification of the arrested individual. Consequently, requests for arrest warrants and searches were submitted to the 4th Section of the DIAP of Sintra.
The suspect was already serving a suspended sentence for a similar crime and was presented at the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon West, Sintra nucleus, where he underwent his first judicial interrogation and was placed under preventive detention.
Connection to Recent Riots
Additionally, this young man has been linked to the riots in the Zambujal neighborhood, particularly after attempting to throw Molotov cocktails at the São Brás police station. He was also made a defendant in this case on November 12.
