Arrest of a Young Suspect in Algarve
A 21-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder involving a firearm on September 29 in the municipality of Loulé.
Investigative efforts by the Southern Directorate of the Judicial Police (PJ) revealed that the assault stemmed from a dispute over debts, with the suspect reportedly accompanied by another individual during the incident.
The authorities reported that of the three shots fired, only one struck the victim, a 24-year-old man, who sustained serious injuries and was in critical condition. Fortunately, swift action by emergency services led to his transport to the Algarve University Hospital Center.
The suspect was located in Vilamoura and was arrested following the collection of significant evidence, which also led to the recovery of the weapon used in the crime.
He has since been presented for a preliminary judicial interrogation and is now subject to periodic check-ins at a police station. The investigation is being overseen by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Loulé.
