AIMA Reaches Out to Immigrants

The Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum (AIMA) has started to call upon immigrants for consultations as part of the mission structure announced by the Government in July. Immigrants are receiving emails from AIMA with instructions for scheduling appointments and resubmitting documents that were previously submitted on the platform.

The deadline for document submission is tomorrow, according to the correspondence accessed by Diário de Notícias (DN). The email states: "We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding regarding this necessary measure to ensure the swift resolution of all pending processes."

New Procedures and Information Systems

AIMA explains that the mission structure is developing new procedures and information systems and creating service centers across the country to regularize migrant citizens more quickly and securely. Some users previously had appointments set at traditional offices, but the new guidance indicates that these initial dates should be disregarded. In some cases, the new date is already provided, and in others, it states that it will be communicated soon. The appointments are scheduled for mid-October.

Service Location in Lisbon

In Lisbon, the Telheiras pavilion on Avenida Mahatma Gandhi will be one of the locations where users will be attended by AIMA. This location was previously used during the COVID-19 pandemic for vaccination purposes. The service hours will be extended, as previously announced by the Government. The communication sent to immigrants indicates that the service will be available outside of regular business hours, after 6 PM, confirming the prior intentions.
