Algarve Residents Invited to Share Their Thoughts on Public Transport Mobility
In a bid to enhance public transport services and assess mobility needs, the Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL) has launched a survey targeting residents from the region’s 16 municipalities. This initiative aims to gather insights as part of the new public bus transport concession, which is set to commence by the end of 2026.
Despite the two-year wait for this new concession, AMAL believes it is crucial to engage citizens now to optimize the quality of public transport in the Algarve. The survey will inquire about regular travel patterns between home and work/school.
“A comprehensive preparatory work is already underway to define the territorial scope, duration, environmental requirements, financial commitments of the municipalities, and the Network and Supply Plan,” stated the intermunicipal community in a press release.
In addition to this survey, AMAL is also gathering input from sector experts and various institutions across the 16 Algarve municipalities: Albufeira, Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Monchique, Olhão, Portimão, S. Brás de Alportel, Silves, Tavira, Vila do Bispo, and Vila Real de Santo António.
Founded on March 13, 1992, this committee is dedicated to promoting the development of municipalities and reinforcing the identity of the Algarve region.
