Algarve Sees December Hotel Occupancy Rise to 34.9%: A 3% Yearly Increase!

December Hotel Occupancy in Algarve Climbs

In December, hotel occupancy rates in the Algarve rose by 1.0 percentage points compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 34.9%. This data comes from the Algarve Hotels and Tourist Developments Association (AHETA).

The average occupancy per room increased by 3.0% year-on-year, highlighting a positive trend for the region's tourism industry. AHETA noted that the growth was significantly influenced by Dutch and German tourists, who contributed to the increase with year-on-year rises of 1.2 and 0.2 percentage points, respectively.

However, the national market, which is one of the main visitor sources during the New Year's period, experienced a 0.4 percentage points decline compared to the previous year.

AHETA also reported that the average length of stay was 3.3 nights, which is similar to the figures recorded in December 2023. The Norwegian market showed the longest stays with an average of 8.4 nights, followed by the Dutch market at 6.9 nights.

This increase in occupancy reflects a positive outlook for the Algarve's tourism sector as it continues to recover and evolve.
