André Gomes, president of Algarve Tourism, stated, "Participating in FINE 2025 is an excellent opportunity to establish the Algarve as a key destination in wine tourism, strengthening our presence in the Spanish market and other international markets."
Event Highlights
In addition to post-tour experiences that allow participants to explore the region's diverse offerings, the event will include a B2B meeting with approximately 75 national and international buyers, providing a strategic platform for networking and promoting wine regions.
The Algarve will have its own dedicated space to showcase its wine tourism segment, featuring promotional materials including guides on Algarve wines and gastronomy.
Wine Tasting and Familiarization Trip
The Algarve Wine Commission, responsible for the Algarve Wine Tourism route, will also host wine tastings to highlight the region's diversity and quality of wine production.
Following the event, from March 7-11, a group of international operators will participate in a familiarization trip to the Algarve, organized by Algarve Golden Terroir, a candidate for European City of Wine 2026, in collaboration with Algarve Tourism. This initiative offers participants first-hand experiences of the region's wine tourism.
Growth of Wine Tourism
Since its inception in 2020, the FINE #WineTourism Marketplace has seen significant growth, with 140 exhibitors from Spain, Portugal, and Italy in 2024, attracting 84 tour operators from 23 countries. The organization estimates that wine tourism generated $7 billion in 2021, with projections to reach $13 billion by 2026.
The participation of Algarve Tourism is part of the INTERNACIONALIZAR + Algarve 3.0 initiative, emphasizing the promotion and enhancement of Algarve's wine tourism.
