Almedina Expands with 15th Bookstore in Lisbon
The Almedina bookstore chain has added a new location in Lisbon, specifically on Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo, one of the city's main avenues. This marks the 15th store for the group and is designed to host cultural events such as book presentations and literary gatherings.

According to a statement, Rita Pinto, CEO of Grupo Almedina, emphasized the importance of investing in spaces that foster critical thinking and free exchange of ideas, highlighting this opening as a way to celebrate the group's 70th anniversary.
Inauguration Events and Schedule
The official inauguration is set for Wednesday, October 1st, at 6:00 PM, featuring a talk on "Books, Bookstores, and Readers" by Carlos Fiolhais. On Friday, October 3rd, also at 6:00 PM, there will be a book launch for Porque Sou Comunista – Confissões de um Jornalista Burguês by Pedro Tadeu, published by Zigurate. The event will include the author and journalist Mafalda Anjos.
Background on Grupo Almedina
Founded in 1955, Grupo Almedina includes publishers such as Almedina, Edições 70, Actual Editora, and Minotauro, with operations extending to Brazil. The group has expanded its bookstore network near major academic hubs in Portugal, including Braga, Porto, Coimbra, and now Lisbon. The new store will be open from Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
