Chega's Stance on PSD and Elections

The leader of Chega, André Ventura, asserted on Monday that his party is fully prepared for early legislative elections. He criticized the Social Democratic Party (PSD), stating that a PSD that governs just like the Socialist Party (PS) cannot earn his trust and does not deserve a "green card".

Ventura emphasized, "We are ready, and it’s great to see that you are ready too. We will tell the country tonight that we are indeed ready." He directed a pointed message at the Prime Minister and PSD leader, Luís Montenegro, stating, “Luís, we are coming after you.” Ventura firmly believes that if the PSD continues to govern like António Costa's PS, they will face the same opposition from Chega.

Mission and Mobilization

During the opening speech of Chega's parliamentary sessions in Castelo Branco, Ventura called for unity among party members. He urged them to stay mobilized and to ignore "electoral fears" that might hinder their election efforts. “We will not give up on our country. We continue to present proposals for a different Portugal,” he stated, reinforcing the party's commitment to engaging with voters across the nation.

Economic Challenges Ahead

Ventura described the upcoming 2025 State Budget as a crucial political moment that will define the party's ability to act and respond to challenges. He expressed a desire to increase their parliamentary representation, acknowledging that “no one wins all the time” and that defeat often comes unexpectedly.

He also highlighted that “this party prepares today for the worst while fighting for the best,” indicating that a political crisis may be on the horizon but emphasizing that it is preferable to face a crisis of integrity rather than a compromise with opportunism.

Ventura's passionate address underlined Chega's determination to fight for their agenda and to prepare for whatever political challenges may arise in the future.
