The Canadair aircraft have been actively engaged in combating the significant fire that has been raging for ten days in the Serra de Água region of Madeira. Over the past two days, each of the two heavy Canadair planes has conducted 13 water drops, showcasing their crucial role in firefighting operations.
On Thursday, each plane managed to execute four drops, while on Friday, they increased their efforts with nine drops each, totaling 26 drops between them.
In comparison, the helicopter stationed permanently in Madeira has performed even more drops, totaling 327 since August 14, each carrying 1,000 liters of water. The Canadair planes, in contrast, can carry up to 6,000 liters per drop, significantly amplifying their impact.
