José Manuel Rodrigues Prioritizes Quality of Life Over Positions

José Manuel Rodrigues, the leader of CDS/PP, has stated that he has not yet received any contact from Miguel Albuquerque and emphasized that positions or roles are not a priority at this moment. His focus is on ensuring that the quality of life for the people of Madeira remains paramount.

CDS/PP's Role in Madeira's Political Landscape

As the fifth political force in the current regional political landscape, CDS/PP managed to elect just one deputy, a decrease from previous elections. This situation may limit their negotiating power, but Rodrigues remains optimistic about the party's influence in forming a right-leaning parliamentary majority.

The newly elected centrist deputy insists that the party's proposals should be included in the social-democratic government program to ensure better living conditions for Madeirans.

Future Plans and Stability Assurances

In his closing remarks on election night, Rodrigues announced plans to convene party organs in the coming days to discuss their position moving forward. He assured journalists that Madeirans can expect “more political stability.”

Despite losing over 1,000 votes compared to last May, Rodrigues highlighted gains in municipalities like Ponta do Sol and São Vicente. The party received a total of 4,288 votes, accounting for 3% of the electorate, enabling them to secure a seat in the parliament, with Rodrigues positioning himself as a stabilizing force in the region.
