Temperature Drop in Minho

Temperatures in mainland Portugal have begun to drop this weekend, with predictions of increased wind intensity. According to Ângela Lourenço, a meteorologist from the IPMA, the arrival of a cold front last night marks the start of this temperature decline.

"The air will be colder, and temperatures will begin to drop," Lourenço stated.

Forecast Details

The IPMA forecasts that temperatures will fall to 3°C in Braga between today and Wednesday, potentially reaching 0°C in municipalities such as Cabeceiras de Basto by Thursday. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain below 12°C throughout the Minho region in the coming days.

Weather Challenges Ahead

From Friday, there is some uncertainty regarding a depression that may affect the mainland, possibly causing a slight rise in temperatures. Additionally, frost formation is expected in the interior regions until Thursday.

Maritime Conditions

This weekend, particularly on Sunday, an increase in maritime agitation is anticipated, with waves reaching 4 to 4.5 meters between Cabo Carvoeiro and Cabo Raso. Due to the strong maritime conditions, the IPMA has issued a yellow warning for the districts of Braga and Viana do Castelo, effective until 12:00 PM this Sunday.

The yellow warning, which is the least severe on a three-tier scale, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for specific activities dependent on weather conditions.
