Teachers Have Until Today to Accept School Placements
Teachers assigned to schools in the Madeira region on Friday have until today, Tuesday, to decide whether to accept their placements. Those who agree will report to their respective schools tomorrow, as confirmed by the regional secretary of Education this afternoon.
Preparation for the New School Year
Jorge Carvalho stated that if there are any withdrawals, they are prepared to issue a new list to accommodate all requests from schools. He emphasized that everything is ready for the school year to start "with the tranquility that has prevailed in recent years."
Adjustments Due to Budget Delays
The secretary acknowledged that there might be some "fine-tuning and adjustments" needed, especially since the Regional Budget was published later than usual (last July), which has also impacted the education sector.
Concerns from the Teachers' Union
In response to concerns raised by the Madeira Teachers' Union about the sustainability of a smooth start to the academic year, Carvalho pointed out that it is common for teachers to miss school for personal reasons each year. He added that there is still a significant reserve of teachers outside the system who can return if necessary to meet these needs.
