PSP's Delayed Communication on Escape

The National Directorate of PSP confirmed to CM that the email alert regarding the escape of five inmates from Vale de Judeus prison was only sent to the Barreiro police stations on Monday morning, two days after the incident. The escape occurred at 09:56 on Saturday, but the alert was not sent until 11:06 on the following Monday.

According to the PSP's statement, while the official communication was sent on the day of the escape, it wasn't disseminated to the Barreiro stations until Monday. It was noted that all PSP officers had access to information widely reported by the media, including CMTV, throughout the weekend.

The alert was initially communicated by the Prison Services at 12:52 on Saturday to the Strategic Command and Control Center of the National Directorate of PSP, which then shared it nationally at 13:06 to ensure immediate actions were taken to locate the escaped inmates.

Furthermore, the PSP emphasized that the Criminal Investigation Department was alerted via their technical channels soon after the information was received. While acknowledging the delay in communication to Barreiro, they asserted that the entire criminal investigation structure was informed promptly.
