Heróis do Mar Festival: A Seafood Extravaganza in Lisbon

The Heróis do Mar Festival, running from October 3 to 6, is dedicated to the rich gastronomy of fish and seafood. This exciting event brings together over 20 renowned chefs from both national and international backgrounds.

Nuno Guedes Vaz Pires, director of Essência Company, emphasizes the festival's inspiration from the successful Peixe em Lisboa event, aiming to provide a unique set of experiences for families and friends to share.

Bernardo d’Orey Delgado, CEO of Doca da Marinha, highlights that Lisbon will gain a new annual event in a prime location, showcasing top-tier programming that will appeal to both local and international audiences. The festival will focus on a significant aspect of Portuguese culture - the sea and its resources.

Culinary Highlights

Attendees can expect a plethora of seafood dishes from ten distinguished restaurants, including:

  • As Esquinas de Vítor Sobral
  • Epur by Vincent Farges
  • Justa Nobre
  • Kanazawa

  • Marlene Vieira
  • Real Marisqueira Nunes

Quique Dacosta, who runs a three-star Michelin restaurant in Dénia, Spain, will collaborate with José Avillez, another acclaimed chef, to create another banquet. Rafael Costa e Silva, known for his innovative cuisine at Lasai in Rio de Janeiro, will return to Lisbon to showcase his culinary talents.

Live Cooking and Workshops

Live cooking presentations will feature Michelin-starred chefs such as André Cruz, António Galapito, Gil Fernandes, and João Sá. Additionally, participants can engage in hands-on cooking classes led by chef Cristina Manso Prato.

The festival will also host discussions with experts on gastronomy and marine resource management, focusing on ocean sustainability. Attendees can enjoy tastings, a marketplace for products, and daily concerts.

Tickets are priced at 5€, which includes a complimentary Riedel glass, a tasting of Lisbon wine, and access to the event and concerts. Restaurant tastings range from 5€ to 20€, while banquets are priced between 150€ and 250€.
