The ICBAS describes this field as one that is in strong expansion and generating growing interest in the academic community.

The master's director, António Araújo, highlighted that this program could empower students to play an active global role in developing support systems for new air and space vehicles. Carolina Moreira, the course coordinator, noted that this discipline emerges at a unique historical moment, with preparations underway for long-duration flights and the anticipated arrival of humans on Mars.
