Lisbon's Artistic Triumph
Street Art Cities, the largest digital community for urban art, is on a quest to find the best murals in the world, and this year, four outstanding pieces are nominated from Lisbon. Take part in the voting for your favorite mural!
This marks the fourth consecutive year that Street Art Cities is searching for the best mural of the year, succeeding last year's winners, Diego As, Studio Giftig, and Sfhir. The competition features a total of 100 nominees across three categories: “Best of 2024”, “Expert's Choice”, and the new “Artist's Choice”.
The Street Art Cities Best Of Awards celebrates the richness and vitality of street art, recognizing excellence from street artists around the globe, with four of these artworks located in Lisbon.
The Selected Murals
The awards highlight the impressive murals that transform urban spaces and the smaller interventions that challenge traditional narratives. Nominations come from art enthusiasts, local communities, and the extensive network of city ambassadors associated with Street Art Cities. Winners are determined through a combination of public votes and expert evaluations, ensuring a balance between community participation and artistic quality.
This year, the following four murals from Lisbon are nominated:
Afonsoul's Mural for “Cor de Chelas”
Inspired by the desire to highlight freedom and equality for women, this mural titled “Inner Feeling” was created for International Women's Day.
Sepher Awk's Mural for the Urban Art Gallery Project
This mural marks a significant milestone for the artist, being his first large-scale building intervention, reflecting the forgotten reality of the Vale de Lisboa neighborhood.
Ricardo Romero's Mural for the Zambujal Project in Amadora
The mural's design symbolizes the intersection of cultures, aiming to make the Zambujal neighborhood a space of inclusion, cooperation, and development for a fairer society.
Collaborative Mural by Vhils and Bordallo for “Cor de Chelas”
This collaboration has been nominated for the “Expert's Choice” award, showcasing the joint effort of these renowned artists.
Outside Lisbon, Nuno Miles' anamorphic mural “Touro Raiano” is currently in the top 3 and is a reference in the city of Guarda, also competing for “Best of 2024”.
