The 64th Edition of ModaLisboa Kicks Off Today

The 64th edition of ModaLisboa begins today, featuring discussions at MUDE and running until Sunday with fashion shows, conversations, and artistic installations at the Centro de Arte Moderna (CAM) and Pátio da Galé, with several free entry moments.

According to the organizers, this edition, themed CAPITAL, starts as usual with the “Fast Talks”, a free-entry program focusing on the social, cultural, and environmental impact of the fashion industry.

The program, designed in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Lisbon for the Italian Design Day, kicks off with an exclusive workshop led by Italian entrepreneur and sustainability activist Matteo Ward. It continues with two panel discussions and concludes with the screening of two episodes of the series “Junk,” which reflects on the consequences of consumer society.

Today’s events take place at MUDE — Museum of Design, and while they are free, registration is mandatory on the ModaLisboa website.

On Friday, ModaLisboa moves to the Centro de Arte Moderna (CAM) at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation before heading to Pátio da Galé. The program at CAM begins with “Diálogos,” described by the organization as intimate conversations between artists and ModaLisboa designers. Notable discussions will feature Adriana Proganó with Diogo Mestre, João Pedro Vale and Nuno Alexandre Ferreira with Marta Gonçalves, and Mikhail Karikis with Lidija Kolovrat.

The CAM Studio Room will showcase the Fall/Winter 2025/26 collection titled “Second Best” by Constança Entrudo. Additionally, Entrudo will take over the CAM store on Friday with archival pieces and unique fabric samples from her collection.

The activities between 4 PM and 6 PM are free but require ticket pickup on the day at the CAM box office, starting two hours prior to each session.

On Friday, ModaLisboa returns to its headquarters at Pátio da Galé, beginning with the final of the Sangue Novo competition, aimed at finalists from national and international fashion design schools and emerging designers. The five finalists — Dri Martins, Duarte Jorge, Francisca Nabinho, Gabriel Silva Barros, and Ihanny Luquessa — were selected in October during the 63rd edition of ModaLisboa and will present the results of their conceptual growth and commercial maturity developed over the last semester under the mentorship of a jury panel.

Additionally, collections from Inês Barreto, Mestre Studio, and Alves/Gonçalves will be presented, marking the return of the latter to ModaLisboa after the death of designer Manuel Alves last year, who passed away at the age of 72, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of his partnership with José Manuel Gonçalves.

The presentations continue on Saturday with designers Carlos Gil, finalists from the IED campuses in Italy and Spain, LuĂs Onofre, Kolovrat, LuĂs Buchinho, Ricardo Andrez, and LuĂs Carvalho.

For the closing day on Sunday, fashion shows will feature Nuno Baltazar, Bárbara Anastácio, Arndes, Valentim Quaresma, Duartehajime, Gonçalo Peixoto, and Dino Alves, alongside the presentation of Portuguese Soul by the APICCAPS — Portuguese Association of Footwear, Components, Leather Articles, and their Substitutes.

Between Friday and Sunday, Praça do Comércio will host the artistic installation “The Web That Unites Us,” promoted by ModaPortugal, CENIT, and ANIVEC. This installation will broadcast live the shows happening at Pátio da Galé, featuring content focused on values such as craft technique preservation, durability, sustainability, and technology.

ModaLisboa is co-organized by Associação ModaLisboa and the Lisbon City Council.
