Lisbon's Mayor, Carlos Moedas, who witnessed the incident firsthand, quickly alerted the firefighters. He described the situation as “a great luck” that no one was harmed and announced that an investigation will be initiated to determine the cause of the facade’s failure.
“It was a big scare. Thankfully, we managed to calm the person who was in the car,” Moedas stated. He expressed his discontent, saying, “It is a shame that a developer of this quality allowed this to happen”.
Importantly, the building was uninhabited, which meant there was no need to relocate any residents.
