Miguel Castro, the head of the Chega party for the regional elections in Madeira, cast his vote this morning at the Escola Profissional Francisco Fernandes in São Martinho. He highlighted the significance of this day for the region, urging all citizens to participate in the electoral process.

"Today is an important day for Madeira. I urge all citizens to come and vote; the services are optimized, you can vote in an instant without wasting much time," Castro stated, pointing out the ease and speed of the voting process.

Concerns Over Abstention

When asked about the potential for abstention, Castro expressed confidence, saying, "I am not afraid of abstention, but it is guaranteed in a democracy." He emphasized that only by approaching the polls can the political crisis be resolved.

A Day of Rest After the Campaign

After voting, Castro shared that the rest of his day would be more relaxed. "We will have lunch with family, maybe watch a movie and rest after 15 hectic days of a tough campaign and unusual bad weather for Madeira," he confessed, reflecting on the intense campaign period.

He mentioned that, regardless of the outcome, it is the merit of the regional political committee of Chega.
