New Economic Incubator Opens in Ameixial
A new furniture company and a 20-year-old honey business are the first to set up shop in the newly inaugurated Economic Incubation and Reception Space in Ameixial, Loulé, officially opened on November 15. This marks the establishment of the third certified honey business in the Algarve.
Isa Lourenço and Tiago Custódio, both locals with over 15 years of carpentry experience, are the minds behind Meus Móveis. They express their gratitude towards the Loulé City Council for the opportunity to launch their venture in a space designed to support new businesses. "This place is created with great conditions, affordable prices, and is very accessible for those just starting out," says Isa.
Economic Growth and Job Creation
The incubator aims to not only create jobs but also attract more families to the interior regions and boost local commerce. Vitor Aleixo, the Mayor of Loulé, emphasized the importance of such investments in transforming the economic landscape of the region, which has seen €1.1 million invested in the facility that includes six warehouses, four of which are already allocated.

Honey Business Thrives
Next door, Dnas Sociedade Agrícola is already buzzing with activity, as Aurélio Cavaco, one of the beekeeping business leaders, shares insights about the challenges they face due to recent droughts. Despite these hurdles, they have maintained their beehives and a viable operation. "We also focus on pollination services, providing support to almond orchards in Alentejo and greenhouses in the Algarve," he explains.
With their recent move to Ameixial, they anticipate gaining the certification necessary for a honey business, allowing them to purchase honey from local beekeepers and expand their operations. "This will add value to our honey, which is our top priority for the new warehouse,” adds Aurélio, indicating plans for a packaging unit to sell their products in larger retail spaces.
Opportunities for New Businesses
Businesses interested in establishing themselves in the Economic Incubation and Reception Space are encouraged to contact the Loulé City Council.
