The Inaugural Sand Motorcycle World Cup in Algarve
The first edition of the Sand Motorcycle World Cup will take place in Algarve, organized by the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP) in collaboration with the municipality of Vila Real de Santo AntĂłnio, under the supervision of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and the Portuguese Motorcycling Federation (FMP).
This new competition, part of the FIM's sand racing series, will feature the best riders in the world from November 17 to 19, attracting thousands of fans.
The event kicks off with administrative and technical checks on the first day at the Vila Real de Santo AntĂłnio Sports Complex. The following two days will showcase races on a five-kilometer circuit constructed on the beach, providing spectators with prime viewing options from a rooftop, on large walkways on the beach, or in a reserved area closer to the racers.
Fun for Families and Environmental Awareness
Monte Gordo will also host a fun park and other family-oriented initiatives. In addition to numerous beachside restaurants, there will be an exhibition area dedicated to brands and the sale of gadgets for motorcycle enthusiasts.
The event has received positive feedback from the relevant authorities, including the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA). To minimize environmental impact, a dedicated technical team will oversee the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of an environmental enhancement plan. Information on best practices for waste collection and recycling will also be shared.
