Javier Artigas Takes Center Stage at Algarve Organ Festival
Spanish organist Javier Artigas is set to perform two magnificent concerts as part of the Algarve Organ Festival, taking place this Friday and Saturday, November 29 and 30. Admission is free, offering a fantastic opportunity for music lovers to enjoy these remarkable performances!
Concert Details
- Friday, November 29: Artigas will perform at Santa Maria Church in Lagos, showcasing the restored Walcker organ from 1893. The program features works by Bach, Ledesma, Liszt, Brahms Torres, and Karg-Elert.
- Saturday, November 30: The festival's closing concert will be held at Sé Church in Faro, themed “Poetic Music”. The repertoire includes compositions from Sweelinck, Reincken, Praetorius, Scheidemann, Böhm, and Buxtehude on a grand organ over 300 years old.
About Javier Artigas
Born in Zaragoza, Javier Artigas began his musical education in organ and harpsichord. He is currently completing his doctoral thesis on ornamentation in Renaissance keyboard music in Spain. Artigas is an acclaimed performer at major festivals across Europe, Asia, and America, both as a soloist and as a member of chamber groups. His solo recordings, including Tañer con Arte, have received five-star accolades from Goldberg magazine, establishing his reputation as an international expert in historical Spanish keyboard music.

On the afternoon of November 30, starting at 6 PM, there will be an announcement of the winners of the photography contest at the FNAC in FĂłrum Algarve, Faro.
