The festival aims to foster dialogue between cultures, focusing on social issues such as social emancipation, freedom, and faith, and providing fresh perspectives on the diverse realities of contemporary Arab societies.

Countries featured include Morocco, Algeria, Qatar, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine. The films, produced between 2015 and 2024, include co-productions with European nations such as France, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.

One of the highlights is the film Everybody Loves Touda (2024), a Moroccan-French co-production that tells the story of a young woman aspiring to become a Sheikha, showcasing traditional Moroccan artists.

Also making its way to Lisbon is the Palestinian documentary Bye Bye Tibérias (2023), which follows actress Hiam Abbass as she returns home after thirty years in France, exploring the ties of four generations of women amidst exile, dispossession, and grief. Another notable film is the award-winning Wajib (2017) by Annemarie Jacir, depicting a father and son reuniting to hand-deliver wedding invitations according to Palestinian tradition.
