Celebrate the Martisor Festival in Lisbon
The Embassies of Romania and the Republic of Moldova in Portugal, in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Lisbon, are excited to announce the Martisor Festival, a beautiful symbol of spring. This vibrant event will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM at the João de Deus Association/School of Education (Av. Álvares Cabral, 69, 1269-094 Lisbon).
During this festival, children's workshops will be held, showcasing the history of Martisor, which has been recognized since 2017 as part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Participants will have the chance to unleash their creativity by crafting recyclable Martisor objects using paper, modeling clay, or textile materials.
Additionally, children can create puppets inspired by Romanian folklore costumes and spring traditions in the workshop titled “The Martisor Puppet - A Journey between Romania and Portugal,” developed by the Anastomosis Project.
The event will also feature various artistic moments, including a face painting workshop for children and presentations demonstrating traditional embroidery techniques and String Art by various artisans.
Those interested in attending the Martisor Festival are invited to send a message by Monday, February 24, 2025, to lisabona@mae.ro, including the names of participants and the ages of accompanying children.
Join us to celebrate the arrival of spring with fun and creativity for both kids and adults!
