Adamastor FURIA's Track Debut
The Algarve International Circuit welcomed the Adamastor FURIA for its track debut at the end of November. After several tests in a controlled environment, the Adamastor team, consisting of around 15 technicians led by engineer Frederico Ribeiro, had an intense day of work yielding very positive results.
The Portuguese supercar, driven by engineer and development driver Diogo AraĂşjo Matos, showcased its capabilities on the challenging PortimĂŁo circuit. The work plan included accumulating mileage and progressively increasing load to evaluate the FURIA's potential performance.
Despite periods of telemetry analysis in the pits, the three hours of track practice brought satisfaction to the entire team due to the vehicle's consistent evolution.
Specifications and Production Plans
The Adamastor FURIA is the first Portuguese supercar, developed by Adamastor. It will have a limited production of 60 units for the road, with a price tag of €1.6 million before taxes. Equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine from Ford Performance, the FURIA delivers over 650 hp, reaches a top speed of over 300 km/h, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
With a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and a weight of just 1100 kg, its advanced aerodynamic design eliminates the need for large rear wings or spoilers. The project has received an investment of €17 million and will be produced in Matosinhos, Portugal, starting in 2025, with a capacity of 25 units per year from 2026.
Driver Insights
Diogo Matos expressed satisfaction with the intense day of testing, highlighting the constant evolution experienced during the drive. He noted, “We started off softly and gradually increased the pace. I was able to feel the car's dynamics and its performance potential. We are far from the machine's limits, but the first impressions are very promising.”
He remarked on the FURIA's responsiveness, stating, “Even in a calm pace, you can perceive everything: the braking, how the FURIA responds to inputs, always showing balance. From the start, the FURIA conveys a strong racing car feeling, very reactive. Just a slight touch on the throttle and the engine revs immediately. It’s impressive! It’s an easy and fun car to drive.”
The sensations Matos experienced on the track were immediately communicated via live chat to Frederico Ribeiro, who was responsible for preparing the test. Ribeiro expressed confidence in the preparations, stating, “I wasn't too worried! I knew everything was ready for this trial.” With a detailed plan for the day, they managed to combine development, calibration, and performance exploration effectively, confirming the reliability of the components.
As they continue to refine the FURIA, both driver and engineer are enthusiastic about the future of this groundbreaking Portuguese supercar.
