EY Law Expands into Portugal

EY Law Portugal, a new independent law firm within the EY network, has officially launched in the Portuguese market, marking a significant step in EY’s global expansion across Europe. The EY Global Law network operates in over 90 countries, boasting more than 3,400 legal professionals and part of a larger organization present in over 150 countries.

The Portuguese office will focus on providing integrated legal solutions in various sectors including M&A, Real Estate, Urban Planning, Asset Management, and more. This initiative aims to combine local expertise with the extensive resources available through the EY Global Law network, adapting to the evolving demands of the global legal market.

Managing Partner João Nóbrega emphasized the firm’s commitment to maintaining the independence of the legal profession. He stated that operational and functional segregation is crucial for compliance with ethical standards, ensuring that clients' interests are defended with utmost confidentiality and impartiality.

Nóbrega noted that the firm is equipped to assist clients with a range of issues including corporate restructurings, tax disputes, and challenges in sectors such as finance, insurance, and technology. Meanwhile, Miguel Farinha, country managing partner for EY in Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, and Cape Verde, highlighted how EY’s global network facilitates the sharing of experiences and access to real-time knowledge. He reiterated EY Law Portugal’s mission to contribute to 'Building a Better Working World' by offering services that not only address problems but also create lasting value.
