Shocking Discovery at Póvoa de Varzim

Former football star Fábio Coentrão was caught with one ton of illegal live seafood at a warehouse in the fishing port of Póvoa de Varzim. This news was reported by Jornal de Notícias (JN) in their Thursday edition.

According to the report, Coentrão was operating a business without the necessary licenses. During an operation led by the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Security and Maritime Services (DGRM) on Wednesday morning, 1020 kilograms of illegal seafood were seized.

The inspectors discovered 12 tanks filled with seawater, containing lavagante, shrimp, and santola. Of the 1020 kilograms seized, 760 kilograms lacked documentation to trace their capture, and it is expected that this seafood will be returned to the sea. The remaining seafood had invoices and capture documents, but the establishment was found to be operating without the required licenses for operation, commercialization, and sale of aquaculture products, as reported by JN.

Coentrão, along with a partner, has been running a business in the fishing port of Póvoa de Varzim for about seven months. The former footballer, who has already been notified by ASAE, declined to comment on the situation when approached by JN.
