Final Tribute to D. Teodoro de Faria
The body of D. Teodoro de Faria, the emeritus bishop of Funchal, has been lying in state at the Sé do Funchal since the afternoon of Monday, August 25th.
The remains of the prelate were received at the door of the Cathedral at 2 PM by D. Nuno Brás, the Bishop of Funchal, who emphasized that "the death of our dear Bishop Teodoro fills us with sadness and reminds us how fragile and brief human life is."
At 8 PM, the Office of the Dead prayer will take place.
On Tuesday, the body will remain in state from 8 AM to 11 AM. This will be followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 AM, also held at the Funchal Cathedral. After the mass, the funeral procession will proceed to the São Martinho Cemetery for burial in the Diocese of Funchal's tomb.
D. Teodoro de Faria passed away last Saturday, as announced by the Diocese of Funchal.
