"There was a cancellation of an agenda yesterday afternoon, as everyone can understand, and the weekend is not a pause time for the government officials. This is a bit special since he will rest today and tomorrow," stated Duarte.
Health Update on the Prime Minister
Montenegro was hospitalized at Santa Maria Hospital on Friday due to the arrhythmia episode. "It was an episode of cardiac arrhythmia, which occasionally afflicts me. Upon feeling the symptoms, there was no alternative," Montenegro explained to journalists upon his release.
Political Stability Assured
In response to concerns about the potential impact of ongoing controversies regarding Montenegro's professional background, Duarte dismissed any notions of physical strain affecting political plans. He emphasized that there would be no changes to the electoral campaign schedule.
"I genuinely appreciate your concern, which I believe many Portuguese share. However, I see no reason for worry, nor do I expect any changes to the planned schedule," he stressed.
Additionally, Duarte responded to queries about future political aspirations, stating that he has distanced himself from active politics but remains open to public service if motivated by significant reasons.
