Government Acquires Land for New Lisbon Hospital
The Portuguese Government has authorized the purchase of five land parcels in Marvila from the Lisbon City Council for over €4.7 million. This investment is aimed at the construction of the new Hospital de Lisboa Oriental, as detailed in a decree published on Friday.
According to the decree signed by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, the government approved the acquisition of these five parcels, totaling 28,000 square meters, for €4,778,480. This purchase follows a previous approval from 2017, where the land was designated for the Ministry of Health.
Expansion of Hospital Infrastructure
These new parcels will complement the 13 parcels acquired back in 2010, which covered over 100,000 square meters and cost more than €13 million. This expansion became necessary after it was determined that the initially acquired land was insufficient for the future hospital's needs.
The decree specifies that the acquisition costs will be covered by funds allocated in **Chapter 60 -
