Hilton's Expansion in Portugal

Unique Offerings

  • The Canopy by Hilton Vilamoura Marina is slated for a 2026 launch and aims to provide a boutique hotel experience. This property will be located just 500 meters from Praia da Vilamoura and will feature 155 rooms, a restaurant, bar, spa, outdoor pool, and fitness center.
  • Santo André Beach Hotel, part of the Tapestry Collection, is set to open next year. This will be the first Hilton in the Santiago do Cacém region, offering 44 guest rooms, a restaurant, a gym, and a rooftop pool with stunning sea views, located 200 meters from the Santo Andre and Sancha Lagoons Natural Reserve.
  • The DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon Airport will also debut next year, featuring 199 guest rooms and 20 suites. It will include a restaurant, bar, breakfast area, and facilities for meetings and events.

Market Insights

Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton's EMEA development senior vice-president, stated that tourist numbers in Portugal reached record highs last year, making it a highly attractive market for hotel investments. With these new properties, Hilton's portfolio in Portugal will expand to over 20 hotels in operation and in the pipeline.

This strategic move comes on the heels of Hilton's recent entry into Nepal, where they launched a hotel in Kathmandu.
