HolaCamp's Debut in Portugal
HolaCamp has officially entered the Portuguese market with the opening of Camping Albufeira, located in the stunning Algarve region. This new venture represents an investment of over €4 million over the next three years.
With this addition, HolaCamp expands its portfolio to eight camping parks under management, marking its first foray outside of Spain and bringing the total to nine operational tourist destinations.
Strategic Expansion Plans
Alfonso Leprevost, CEO of HolaCamp, emphasizes that Portugal is an "especially interesting" destination. To enhance its presence, the company has opened an office in Lisbon.
"We chose Camping Albufeira due to its prime location in a natural setting. It is a first-class international tourist destination, and its large size allows us to cater to different types of clients with comprehensive services," he stated in a press release.
Record Summer Occupancy
After several months of operation, HolaCamp reports a very positive performance, achieving over 90% occupancy this summer in their glamping tents. Looking ahead, Leprevost plans to incorporate at least five new camping parks annually, focusing on improving facilities, accommodations, and services.
Strengthening Operations
The company is also enhancing its operational structure, increasing its Barcelona headquarters team by over 30 employees in key departments such as revenue, marketing, strategy, finance, IT, and data analysis. Overall, HolaCamp aims to add nearly 200 staff across its central offices and camping parks.
Camping Boom in Portugal
The camping sector in Portugal is witnessing unprecedented growth. Last year alone, Portuguese camping parks exceeded 30 million guests and 77 million overnight stays, generating record revenues of around €6 billion, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Leprevost notes that the camping sector in Portugal is undergoing a "transformation phase" with growing demand since the pandemic, similar to trends seen in Spain.
