Public Recognition for David Assoreira

The Board of Directors of the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of Algarve has decided to hold a public session to honor Eng.º David Assoreira, the first President of CCDR Algarve, who served from 1980 to 1996. This event is open to the general community and will take place on March 21 (Friday) at 4 PM at the CCDR Algarve headquarters. Eng.º David Assoreira will be present, along with Dr. Francisco Mendonça Pinto, who served as Vice-President of CCDR Algarve from 1985 to 1996.

Importance of CCDR Algarve

Established by Decree-Law No. 494/79 on December 21, the CCDR Algarve aims to support Local Authorities, develop regional plans, and facilitate coordination between central government and local authorities. As the CCDR Algarve celebrates 45 years since its establishment, this recognition underscores David Assoreira's significant role in building a regional structure dedicated to regional development. His name will be honored by naming the main auditorium at the CCDR headquarters after him.
