Gouveia e Melo Dominates Presidential Polls

In the latest Intercampus poll conducted for Jornal NegĂłcios and Correio da ManhĂŁ, Henrique Gouveia e Melo emerges as the clear favorite for the presidential race, garnering an impressive 23.2% of the voting intentions in a potential first round. This places him nearly 10 percentage points ahead of his closest rival, former PSD president Pedro Passos Coelho, who stands at 13.9%.

The top four spots in the poll are occupied by candidates from the center-right and right, with the first name from the center-left appearing in fifth place: MĂĄrio Centeno, the current Governor of the Bank of Portugal, who has 6.4% of the intentions.

Following closely, former social-democrat leader and current commentator Luís Marques Mendes is in third place with 9.8%, as he has promised to announce his decision regarding a potential candidacy for Belém in early 2025.
