Justice Minister Rita Alarcão Júdice concludes her two-day official visit to the Autonomous Region of Madeira today, accompanied by the Secretary of State Maria Clara Figueiredo.

Today's Agenda

The agenda starts with a visit to the Proximity Court of São Vicente at 9:00 AM. Following this, the minister will visit the Ponta do Sol Court at 10:30 AM and the former Educational Center of Madeira in Santo da Serra at 11:30 AM. At 1:00 PM, Rita Júdice will have lunch at Quinta Vigia with the President of the Regional Government, marking the end of her visit.

Recent Developments

On the previous day, Minister Júdice signed two inter-administrative contracts—one with the Santa Cruz Municipal Chamber and another with the Regional Secretariat of Equipment and Infrastructures—for renovation and rehabilitation works at the Santa Cruz Palace of Justice and the Building 2000 in Funchal. The renovations for Building 2000, estimated at €300,000, will focus on facade rehabilitation and are set to begin next year. The Santa Cruz Palace project, budgeted at €500,000, will see a public tender launched in January 2025.

Commitment to Justice Reform

"We are working hard to accomplish what needs to be done while also understanding firsthand what is going wrong and what can be improved," stated Rita Alarcão Júdice, expressing that her presence in Madeira holds significant importance in demonstrating the government's commitment to justice reform.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Today, December 3rd, marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In this context, the Electricity Museum – Casa da Luz will host a conference titled 'Portraits of Diversity', organized by the Regional Secretariat of Education, Science, and Technology, featuring Marisa Simões Carvalho, a lecturer and researcher, who will speak about diversity and inclusion in schools.

New Inclusion Service Launch

Additionally, the Regional Government will inaugurate a new personalized service desk called the 'Inclusion Desk' at the Citizen's Shop in Funchal, aimed at providing centralized information about disability measures and programs under the Regional Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities 2023-2030.
