Summary:

  • Lobo Marinho is returning from Porto Santo with engine issues.

  • Passengers were warned of longer travel times upon arrival.

  • The ferry is expected to reach Funchal by 10:00 PM.

  • The engine problem does not require any stops, according to Porto Santo Line.

  • No connection between the engine malfunction and adverse weather conditions reported.

Lobo Marinho's Return Journey

The Lobo Marinho is currently making its return trip from Porto Santo but is experiencing issues with one of its main engines, which, according to the company, is not operating at full capacity.

Passengers were informed upon arrival at the port of the ‘golden island’ around 6:00 PM that the journey would take longer than usual.

Carlos Perdigão Santos from Porto Santo Line reassured that the engine trouble does not require the ferry to stop and that the issue is expected to be resolved by Tuesday, the ship's scheduled day off.

The only inconvenience is the extended travel time, with Lobo Marinho expected to reach Funchal around 10:00 PM.

On Saturday morning, the ferry had already faced adverse weather conditions, as evidenced by a widely circulated video on social media. However, Santos clarified that there is no connection between the engine trouble and the challenging conditions experienced during that journey, stating, "It is just a coincidence." He emphasized that the type of malfunction in one of the four main engines is unrelated to the impacts the ship faced during the difficult weather captured in the footage.
