Montenegro's Reelection as PSD Leader

In a recent election, Luís Montenegro was reelected as the president of the PSD (Social Democratic Party) without any opposition, garnering an impressive 97.45% of the votes from a total of 16,602 counted ballots. This election took place amidst a 60% abstention rate among the party's 41,863 eligible voters.

Montenegro expressed his deep gratitude for the trust placed in him by the party members, stating, "In the coming years, we will continue the reformist and transformative spirit that we have brought to the government of Portugal, with a lot of social sensitivity."

The National Jurisdiction Council of the party also reported 326 blank votes and 97 null votes.

In his video message, Montenegro highlighted the upcoming electoral challenges, including the municipal elections in 2025 and the presidential elections in 2026.
