Traffic Disruptions Ahead
Lisbon's Segunda Circular, a vital route for the city, is set to undergo significant traffic constraints for the next six months, particularly during nighttime hours from 10 PM to 6 AM, Monday to Saturday. This schedule aims to minimize traffic impacts on one of the busiest roads in Lisbon, especially during peak hours in the morning and late afternoon.

Ongoing Works
The works have commenced in the North-South direction of the Segunda Circular, specifically on the eastern side (between Galp gas stations and Avenida de Berlim).
Upgrading Street Lighting
The purpose of these disruptions is the replacement of public lighting. This extensive operation will involve changing the old high-pressure sodium lamps to more efficient and sustainable LED technology. This upgrade is expected to save approximately €81,000 annually in electricity costs, while also improving the quality of lighting and reducing maintenance expenses.
Carlos Moedas, the President of the Lisbon City Council, emphasized the importance of investments that enhance safety on the Segunda Circular while also addressing environmental concerns:
"All investments that enhance safety on the Segunda Circular are well spent. In this case, environmental concerns are also a focus, which we are strongly committed to."
In this project, around 380 new poles and 720 LED lamps will be installed, with an investment of approximately €729,500, marking another step towards sustainability and modernization of urban infrastructures in Lisbon.
