This Thursday morning, traffic on the 25th of April Bridge in Lisbon was completely halted in the direction from Lisbon to Almada due to a car fire at the end of the bridge. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
Initially, the road was closed for over an hour, but traffic has since been reopened. In the opposite direction, two lanes were also affected but have returned to normal operations, as confirmed by Lusoponte, the operator of the road crossings over the Tagus River in Lisbon.
In addition, rail traffic was temporarily interrupted due to the burning vehicle. According to FERTAGUS, train services have resumed but are facing significant delays.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a collision involving three vehicles at the end of the bridge, with one vehicle ultimately catching fire. The fire alarm was raised around 6:15 AM.
