Liberal Initiative Announces Candidates for Upcoming Elections

The Liberal Initiative has officially revealed its list of candidates for the upcoming elections, with selections made during the National Council meeting on Sunday.

  • Rui Rocha, the party president, will represent Braga.
  • Mariana Leitão, the current parliamentary leader, is the candidate for Lisbon and has also declared her intention to run for the Presidency of the Republic.
  • In Porto, the candidate will be Carlos Guimarães Pinto.
  • Mário Amorim Lopes, an incumbent deputy, is leading the list in Aveiro.

Notably, Rodrigo Saraiva, a former parliamentary leader, will appear as number two on the list for Lisbon, while Miguel Rangel, the party's secretary-general, will be number two in Porto.

Rodrigo Saraiva, 48, served as the parliamentary leader and vice-president of the Assembly of the Republic in the previous legislature.

The candidate list, along with programmatic lines, was approved at the National Council meeting with a vote count of 59 in favor, 6 abstentions, and 3 against.
