Alentejo Earthquake Report

An earthquake measuring 2.2 on the Richter scale was felt today at 8:19 AM in Montemor-o-Novo, located in the district of Évora. Fortunately, there were no victims or damage reported, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The earthquake's epicentre was close to Montemor-o-Novo, and it was recorded with a maximum intensity of III on the Modified Mercalli scale. This level of intensity indicates effects that are considered weak: it can be felt at home, objects hanging may swing, and the vibration is similar to that caused by the passage of heavy vehicles.
