Portugal's Triumph at the World Travel Awards

In a spectacular gala held in Funchal, Portugal celebrated its remarkable achievements at the World Travel Awards, securing 19 prestigious distinctions. This event follows the World Golf Awards where Portugal was recognized as the Best Golf Destination in the World for the third consecutive year.

Portugal's accolades were spread across various regions, with notable recognitions for Lisboa, Porto, Algarve, Madeira, and the Açores. Additionally, the city of Braga received the title of Emerging Destination for the second year in a row.

Noteworthy Winners

• The Algarve has reclaimed its title as the World's Leading Beach Destination, a title it held in 2020 and 2021.
• Lisboa was named the Best Urban Escape and Best Heritage City, while Porto received the award for Best Coastal Metropolitan Destination.
• Madeira was awarded Best Island Destination for the tenth consecutive year, and the Açores were recognized as the Best Adventure Tourism Destination.

Adventure and Eco-Tourism Recognized

The Passadiços do Paiva, despite suffering from recent wildfires, were distinguished as the Best Adventure Tourism Attraction. Meanwhile, Dark Sky Alqueva was honored as the Best Responsible Tourism Project and the Parques de Sintra - Monte da Lua was recognized for its conservation efforts.

Airline and Hotel Accolades

The TAP airline continues to dominate, winning awards for its connections to Africa and South America. The Amazing Evolution hotel management company was also recognized for its excellence in boutique hotel management.
