Weather Forecast for Madeira
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has released its forecast for Tuesday, January 7th, indicating generally very cloudy skies with periods of light rain or showers, becoming more likely from the afternoon onward.
Wind Conditions
Winds will be weak to moderate (10 to 30 km/h) coming from the Southwest, with stronger gusts reaching up to 40 km/h in the higher altitudes and the extreme East and West of the island starting in the afternoon. In Funchal, the winds will generally be lighter, up to 20 km/h from the Southwest.
Temperature Changes
A slight drop in temperature is also expected, with thermometers ranging between 16°C and 21°C (16°C to 21°C in Porto Santo).
Sea Conditions
Regarding the state of the sea, Northwest waves of 2 to 2.5 meters are expected on the North coast, while Southwest waves will reach between 1 to 1.25 meters on the South coast.
The sea temperature is estimated to be around 19°C to 20°C.
