Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's New Chapter in Portugal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly spent millions on a new property in Portugal, as their life in the United States did not meet their expectations, according to a former palace staff member.

The couple's new residence, located at the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club—often referred to as the "Hamptons of Portugal"—cost an astonishing £3.6 million. This luxurious home is situated just an hour's drive south of Lisbon on the beautiful west coast of Portugal, nestled between Comporta and Melides. It's also in close proximity to a property owned by Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold commented on their potential return to Europe, suggesting that this move indicates they are "edging their way back in the direction of the UK." He noted that many people relocate back to Europe after living abroad, and Harry and Meghan's case is not unusual.

Life in the US

Reflecting on their time in America, Harrold stated, "Maybe living in the States wasn’t what they thought it would be..." He emphasized that it’s common for royals to establish residences overseas, referencing Princess Margaret's frequent stays in Mauritius.

In terms of their business ventures, Meghan is preparing to launch her new brand, 'American Riviera Orchard,' which will feature a range of products including jams, dog biscuits, and homewares. However, the brand is currently facing a trademark dispute concerning its logo and geographical name usage.

Influence of Family Ties

Pauline MacLaran, a professor and author, suggested that the closeness of Eugenie and Jack could have significantly influenced Harry and Meghan's decision to purchase in Portugal. She noted that this proximity would allow for a familiar social circle and opportunities for their children to bond with their second cousins.
