House Hunting in Melides
During a recent trip, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly stayed with Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, who reside in Melides, south of Lisbon. They utilized this three-night getaway not only to reconnect with friends but also to search for a new home.
A source confirmed the couple's trip to the Daily Telegraph, suggesting that their purchase in Portugal could help them secure a “Golden Visa,” which would grant them access to the EU’s Schengen area. This new base will facilitate easier travel for their transatlantic commitments, allowing them to visit friends and family more frequently.
Recent Travels and Future Plans
Their Portuguese getaway follows their attendance at the Invictus Games in Germany. After their trip to Portugal, they returned to the US to reunite with their children, Archie and Lilibet. The couple is believed to have flown from Dusseldorf to Lisbon before traveling south to Melides.
Earlier this year, they had two notable trips to Africa and Colombia, and Harry has also been on a solo world tour that included stops in New York and the UK. Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to embark on a nine-day tour of Australia and Samoa shortly.
The Frogmore Cottage Background
Frogmore Cottage was gifted to the Sussexes by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2018 as a wedding present. However, it was leased to Eugenie and her husband after Harry and Meghan moved to the US. Their main residence is a lavish nine-bedroom mansion in Montecito, California, purchased in June 2020 for $14.6 million.
