The PSD Party has only managed to define candidates for eight out of 16 municipalities in the Algarve region, as reported by Sul Informação. The remaining candidates are still in the process of being finalized.

Confirmed Candidates:

  • Hélder Martins is set to lead the list for Loulé.
  • José Carlos Rolo, the current mayor of Albufeira, will also run again.
  • In Castro Marim, Filomena Sintra, the current vice-president, will take over as the party's candidate.

Recurrent Candidates: The party has several incumbents running again, including:

  • João Garcia in Silves
  • Dinis Faísca in Tavira
  • Bruno Sousa Costa in São Brás de Alportel
  • Carlos Ludovico in Alcoutim
  • Paula Freitas in Vila do Bispo.

Emerging Candidates:

  • Fernando Ildefonso, an independent philosophy teacher, is nearly confirmed as the candidate for Lagos.

However, there are uncertainties regarding candidates for five municipalities, including Aljezur, Monchique, Olhão, Vila Real de Santo António, and Lagoa.

Key Cities in Question:

  • Portimão: The PSD is looking to challenge the PS for control, but no candidate has been confirmed yet.
  • Faro: The current mayor, Rogério Bacalhau, cannot run again. Potential successors like Paulo Santos, along with other names such as Macário Correia and Alexandra Gonçalves, are under consideration, but there’s no consensus yet.

The PSD is also contemplating alliances with other parties, such as CDS and Iniciativa Liberal, for a stronger candidacy in Loulé and other areas. Notably, Chega is excluded from these potential coalitions.
