Monsignor Weber Machado Pereira was born in the Freguesia de Água Retorta on October 6, 1931. He studied at the Episcopal Seminary of Angra and was ordained on June 29, 1958, in San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome. He later obtained a degree in Systematic Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University and a degree in Mathematics from the University of Lisbon in 1964. His career included teaching at both the Episcopal Seminary of Angra and the Colégio Santo Cristo Seminary in Ponta Delgada.
In January 2006, he was appointed as Monsignor. After stepping down from teaching, he devoted his time to Caritas de São Miguel, becoming its most visible face and actively engaging in the organization to support the most vulnerable on the island of São Miguel.
