This event marked the inaugural international celebration of the Tribeca Festival, which De Niro co-founded. The couple, who share a one-year-old daughter named Gia, were seen smiling and engaging with the festival atmosphere while riding in the cart.

De Niro expressed his excitement about bringing the festival's spirit to Lisbon, a city he described as "bursting with renewed cultural and economic promise." The festival showcased eight U.S. films, including the Portuguese premiere of De Niro's latest film, Ezra. He also participated in a star-studded panel alongside celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg and Patty Jenkins.

This appearance comes shortly after De Niro celebrated his 81st birthday on August 17. The couple's relationship became public in August 2021, although they initially met during the filming of The Intern in 2015. In addition to Gia, De Niro has six other children from previous relationships.

De Niro's most recent project, Ezra, directed by Tony Goldwyn, was released in the U.S. on May 31, 2024. The couple has been making appearances together in support of De Niro’s various film projects, including his collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola on Megalopolis.
