Solidarity Supplement Boost for Seniors
The solidarity supplement for seniors (CSI) will see an increase starting January 2025, raising the maximum monthly amount from €600.6 to €630.6, as announced in a decree published in the Diário da República.
This increase is a result of a 4.99% update to the reference value of the CSI, which will now be €7,568 annually, reflecting a €360 rise from the previous amount of €7,208 that had been in effect since June.
In the context of the XXIV Constitutional Government's Program, there are plans for a gradual increase of the CSI reference value to €820 by 2028. To facilitate this, the government has executed an extraordinary update to the reference value effective from June this year.
The CSI is described as financial aid provided monthly to seniors with low income, who are 66 years and 4 months or older and residing in Portugal, according to the Social Security website.
This decree will take effect the day after its publication and will be applicable from January 1, 2025.
